Julie

I was born in Buckinghamshire but spent my early years in South Devon returning to Buckinghamshire in my late teens, where I met Debbie when we were in our 30’s.

We discovered we shared an appreciation of nature and the outdoors, a love of dogs; both being owners of rescue dogs, enjoy walking, painting, chatting and wine!

In 2016 we walked Hadrian’s Wall – coast to coast. It was an amazing journey and great to be shared with a good friend.

I retired and moved from the Lincolnshire coast to Nottinghamshire with Debbie moving to Derbyshire later the same year (a total unplanned coincidence).

The beautiful countryside all around us, from Sherwood Forest to the Derbyshire Dales, is a constant inspiration for our paintings and crafting and has led us to set up Malt House Crafts to showcase our work and the work of other local crafters.

Debbie

Hello, my name is Deb.
I grew up in a large creative, noisy, and loving family and I inherited my love of crafting from our Grandmother and parents.
Growing up in the Buckinghamshire countryside was a constant source of inspiration. We were always encouraged to be in nature and play outdoors.
Surrounded by numerous pets and even a goat called Harry.

It gave me a passion for bird watching and then bird ringing and the preservation of Barn owls and their habitats. I volunteer for the BTO ( British Trust of Ornithology) as a bird ringer.

I love to walk, and Julie and I have spent many happy hours walking and talking together across the countryside. We even walked the length of Hadrian’s wall on one of our holidays.
I met Julie when we were in our 30’s and instantly hit it off; sharing our passion for birds and crafts our friendship developed and grew to where we are today. We hope that you enjoy our crafts as much as we do, please take a look.
